Welcome to another edition of the Magnus Kahl Seeds newsletter. The past 6 months have been busy with a range of activities happening in the business.
The first development, which has been in the pipeline for the last two years, is the establishment of a European company called Magnus Kahl Seeds BV. This company has been established to improve the quality of service provided to our existing and growing range of European customers and to assist us in expanding this market further. The Manager of Magnus Kahl Seeds BV is Geo Verstichel. Geo has extensive experience in management, customer service and sales functions in complimentary industries to the seed industry. He is excited about the prospects in the EU and is looking forward to meeting any new customers, as well as continuing to service the needs of our long standing clients.
Magnus Kahl Seeds has been active in the European market since 1990, and with the opening of the new company, we look forward to supplying our customers with a more refined offering. This will include more frequent visits, increased trialling of new products, more efficient seed delivery, greater technical support, competitive seed pricing and the continued supply of high quality onion, shallot and echalion seed. The second development is the relocation of our head breeder, Nadeem Khan, from Pakistan to Australia. Nadeem joins us in a full time capacity at the Merbein site and has been warmly received by the Australian team.
His range of experience and his breeding insights will allow the Australian team to quickly expand the range of new varieties entering the product range in the coming few years.

Yields across the US in 2019 have been quite good. Although winter went slightly longer than normal in some locations, generally the growing season has been kind. There are good stocks available on the market and it is hoped, that due to plenty of supply, export markets will be explored. The US mainly exports to Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Dominican Republic.
